If someone personally invests a lot in something, if they have a largely vested interest in it, then they are less inclined to let go of it easily if things turn a little sour. So if the woman and/or her family has placed a lot of effort and money into the weeding, then she is more inclined to try to make the marriage work and not give up on it so easily.
